WHO?

The Clothing Connection is a nonprofit that runs closets in all of Salem’s Public Schools. Via these closets, students can get the clothing and toiletries they need.

WHAT?

First Church will be helping the Clothing Connection by gathering the following items:

• TOPS kid sizes 4T-16 (XS-XL) including husky & plus: gently used or new short-sleeved tees, tank tops, windbreakers, hoodies

• TOPS all adult sizes: gently used or new short-sleeved tees, tank tops, windbreakers, hoodies

• BOTTOMS kid sizes 4T-16 (XS-XL) including husky & plus: gently used or new sweat-shorts, sweatpants, leggings, bike shorts, denim shorts, exercise/basketball/mesh shorts and exercise/basketball/mesh pants

• BOTTOMS all adult sizes: gently used or new sweatshorts, sweatpants, leggings, cargo shorts, denim shorts, pajama pants, exercise/basketball/mesh shorts and exercise/basketball/mesh pants

• New only adult-sized sneakers and summer shoes

• New only packs of undies, 4T-Adult XL

• New only bras all sizes

• DRESSY graduation and dance clothes kid sized 10 up, all adult sizes: gently used or new khaki pants, button-down shirts (short and long sleeves); black or navy suits no more than 5 years old; sundresses, cocktail dresses, and prom dresses no more than 5 years old; like-new or new men’s and women’s dress shoes

• New only packs of white socks all sizes all styles

• New only, regular size only (no sample/travel sizes) shampoo, conditioner, bar soap, body wash, deodorant, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and period pads from liners up to overnight (no tampons needed)

• Pants/skirt hangers (no regular hangers needed)

• “Accident pants” in sizes 4T-8 for school nurses to give to kids who have accidents (please note, while the smoke and pet rules below apply to accident pants, they don’t need to be in amazing shape, just no rips or huge stains)

All items should be in excellent condition, recently laundered, from a smoke-free home, pockets emptied, free from stains, rips and pet hair.

These items are going to children and teens; only donate items currently in style for that age group. For examples, visit Target, Walmart, Old Navy websites.

WHEN?

Sundays April 7, May 5, and June 2 from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.

WHERE?

First Church is located at 366 Essex Street. Pull into the half-circle driveway and come down the walkway to the right. A volunteer will meet you at the door and take your items.
